The Leader in Me

Student leadership is part of the culture at Moraine.  While all students are expected to demonstrate leadership skills, and to function as quality contributors to Moraine's culture and to our larger world, students who demonstrate exceptionally positive leadership, going above and beyond expectations, are recognized by the principal and have the opportunity to raise the flag in the morning.  Students may be nominated for this honor by peers or staff members.  Positive leadership behaviors are associated with the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  The behaviors associated with this honor include:
  • Solved difficult problem peacefully (Habit 4)
  • Consistent quality work (Habit 3)
  • Extraordinary helpfulness (Habit 4)
  • Used time wisely (Habit 7)
  • Cooperative community member (Habit 6)
  • Positive personal breakthrough (Habits 1, 2, 3)
  • Took leadership role (Habit 1)
  • Exceptional kindness and patience (Habit 5)
  • Volunteered for difficult task (Habit 2)
  • Demonstrated responsibility (Habit 2)
 
Moraine School is located in Northville, Michigan approximately 25 miles northwest of Detroit, and is a part of the Northville Public Schools. Built in 1966, the school is located in an area which was a glacial moraine.
