FITNESS ACTIVITIES this month will include the annual Fitness Month Activity Sheet, Spirit Week which takes place May 28TH – 31ST ending with the annual Fun Run which will be held on Thursday, May 30th (rain date is set for Friday, May 31st). SAVE THE DATE – MORAINE FUN FAIR: The countdown is on for the annual Moraine Fun Fair to be held on Friday, May 17! For those new to the school, this is our annual spring carnival and a great chance for Moraine families to come out and enjoy a fun-filled Friday evening with carnival games and prizes, inflatables, a petting zoo, face painting, a basketball shooting station, a cake walk, and more.
“All-You-Can-Play” wristbands for games and activities are on sale now. ($10 per child/parents and preschoolers are free)
This year we will also have three food trucks selling mostly pre-ordered meals as well as a small amount of food available for on-site purchase. (If you plan to feed your family at the Fun Fair, we strongly encourage you to pre-order your food.)
See the attached flier for more information about ordering food and wristbands.
Also, if you are able to donate some of your time to serve as a volunteer during some portion of the evening during the Fun Fair we have many spots that will need filling to make this event a success. Please see the following link for the Signup Genius to volunteer or contact Sheila Geis at for more information.
Earth Day Every Day
Thank you for making the NO WASTE lunch on Monday a success! Waste was reduced by 4 bags and 36 pounds compared to the prior week! Small changes at home can have a big impact. For instance: Thank you for sending reusable silverware to school with your child's lunch. Many children do not bring a spoon for their lunch, and they get plastic spoons in the lunchroom. If everyone who brings lunch from home brings their own spoons or forks we could keep up to 100,000 plastic spoons from going to the landfill each school year. Multiplied across all six elementary schools, our impact would be enormous. Sending a food in a reusable container also saves waste! Truly small changes make a big difference.
The students have been encouraged to make suggestions on how the school can reduce, reuse, and recycle using the suggestion box in the multi-purpose room. Let’s continue to find ways to make our school greener. If 100 of our over 250 families pledge to reduce, reuse and recycle, JMC Landscaping will donate perennials to our school grounds!  Thank you to the 45 families who have already signed, but another 55 families are needed before JMC Landscaping will donate perennials to the school. Deadline is May 3rd.
