Honoring Our May ABCD Award Recipients at Cooke School

At the May 27, 2025 Board of Education meeting held at Cooke School, seven outstanding staff members were celebrated with the Above and Beyond the Call of Duty (ABCD) Award for their exceptional contributions to the Northville Public Schools community. These individuals were nominated by colleagues and parents who have witnessed firsthand the impact of their unwavering support, creativity, and compassion.

  • Extended Resource Room Teacher, Hillside Middle School
  • Her colleague shared that Carrie’s passion for inclusion inspired her to launch Unified Basketball at Hillside and help other schools take steps toward becoming Unified Schools. She is deeply committed to making Northville a truly inclusive district.

Carrie Parks

  • Occupational Therapist, Cooke School
  • Praised by a colleague for her creative and collaborative approach. She adapts vocational tasks, leads sensory and emotional regulation lessons, and ensures each student receives the support they need to thrive.

Danielle Richards

  • Teacher, Cooke School
  • Nominated by a parent for going above and beyond both in and outside the classroom. In addition to running a successful classroom coffee cart business that gives students hands-on learning experiences, Danielle also serves as the PTA treasurer, donating her time and talents to support the whole school.

  • ParaProfessional, Hillside Middle School
  • Described by a parent as a “quiet but impactful” leader. As a dedicated referee for the Unified Basketball Team, Jerome demonstrates kindness, sportsmanship, and encouragement—showing up to every home game and connecting with students in meaningful ways.
